Hudson Whiskey, to me, was the brand that originally got me thinking about craft distilling, when I saw their little medicinal bottles of whiskey as a gift idea in a Martha Stewart Living magazine (my wife subscribes, okay?). It’s interesting that I’ve never tried any of their products before.
They’re also a symbol of how far the craft distilling movement has come. Established in 2001, they released their first whiskey in 2006. Then in June of 2010, they hit a landmark achievement when they became the first craft distiller to be bought by a huge liquor company, William Grant & Sons. Tuthilltown will continue to make the products, while also benefiting from the marketing, distribution and infrastructure of William Grant.
